That’s Jeff.  Jeff is (I’m guessing) about 5’ 9”.  He happens to be standing beside a hut that was built in the redwoods by Jesse, Noah, Kate, and myself.  Note it’s size in relation to Jeff.  It was built entirely with materials found onsite, and held together with natural twine.
The rain is here in the Bay Area now.  But soon the sun will return and dry the ground, and it is then that I’d like to build another castle in the forest.  I’d prefer a different spot; something with a view.  I’d like it to be a bit more complex, something that takes a couple weekends.  And most importantly, I’d like for it to be someplace where it won’t get torn down and the tools looted.
Last year a lot of folks got excited when I told them about it, and said they wanted to help next time.  So this year I’d like to make it a more open group project.  I see it as a four phase project: scout location, design, build, party.  Scouting can start anytime the rain stops.  I’d like to start throwing design ideas around maybe mid spring? (something about blooms feels conducive to creativity).  And I’d like to start building by late spring/early summer.
If anyone is interested in doing some surveying day hikes (maybe some local overnights on sunny weekends), or wants to contribute design ideas or labor or just party in the castle when it’s done, email or tweet or leave a comment and we’ll chat.  Newcomers and non-creepy strangers welcome!  It’s really fun to get out, get creative, get dirty, get down, etc.
Heads up to anyone with knowledge of natural concrete/brick making, I want you on team joeyjoseph.
